Google Analytics, and what’s the point with website analysis?

While some insight pop out easily when we study the figures in Google Analytics, other insights require more work to be detected. The invested work comes to a cost, probably more than many companies are willing to pay. The more important question however is what value we can get from knowing our website better?

There are many web statistics and analytics tools available in the market such as Clicktale, Compete and Optimizely, while Google Analytics is the most popular.

Let’s look at what we can do in Google Analytics:

  • Through having a better control of our web presence, we can analyze what is performing well and what is not.
  • We can set up goals to track important results such as purchases or sign ups to our email newsletter.
  • Through understanding our website’s audience better, we can see if we actually reach our intended audience.
  • When we want to improve our website, we have tools to further analyze, experiment and improve the website content.

If we want to promote our company or produce leads and purchases also via the digital world we cannot ignore how our website is performing.

It is essential we keep up with with the digital world, as the competition is tough, the technology is continuously moving forward, and the audience as well as trends are ever changing.

Google Analytics is free, so there is really no reason not to start monitoring your website through Google Analytics, if you haven’t already. The sooner you set it up the more data will be included for your future analysis.

The goal is to turn data into information, and information into insight.
– Carly Fiorina, Former CEO of HP

So, analyze your data, turn it into information, but never forget that the insights you get needs to be put in action, otherwise there will be no value from your analysis.
